Laurie Williamson, a lifelong Mississauga resident, is one of the city's most successful and well-known business and community leaders. Since he opened his car dealership in 1992, Laurie has been five times recognized by General Motors with the prestigious President's Triple Crown Award most recently in 2008. In 1999, this earned him the Premier's Award nomination from Sheridan College for being an outstanding Ontario college graduate in the business category. District 60, Toastmasters International named Laurie Williamson its communications and leadership award winner in 2003. Laurie devotes his time and energy to charities which, for the most part, help children. Toys for Tots, Peel Cancer Society, Ontario Special Olympics, Trillium Hospital, Foodpath, Hospital for Sick Children, Ontario Leukemia Foundation, Hospice of Peel, Reach for the Rainbow and Peel District School Board have all benefited from Laurie's philanthropy. Laurie has also been the main sponsor for Erindale Hockey Association serving as fundraising and marketing committee chair. He has been a title sponsor for the Mississauga Sports Celebrities' Dinner, in support of the Jerry Love Children's Fund and the Mississauga Sports Council, since the dinner's inception. Laurie is past chairman of the Mayor's Gala for the Living Arts Centre and has chaired Community Living Mississauga's fundraising dinner for eight years. He has also been a member of the Mayor's Charity Golf Tournament committee for 21 years. Laurie has been well recognized for his efforts. Mississauga City Centre Rotary Club, of which Laurie is a founding member, awarded Laurie with a Paul Harris Fellowship - the highest award in Rotary International.
